The cottage is located along a private road and, upon entering, there is a hallway for coats and shoes, followed by a homely open-plan living area consisting of a well-equipped kitchen, dining area and welcoming sitting area. Upstairs, you will find a bright double bedroom with the benefit of an en-suite WC and basin.

On the ground floor, a full bathroom awaits, featuring a bath to soak your muscles in or a shower for a brisk start to the day. Outside, you will find a rear garden surrounded by tranquil countryside, and space to dine alfresco and enjoy the views. You might even notice some sheep and cows in the farmer's yard on the other side if you care to say hello.

Pack your hiking boots to uncover the beauty of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, with hills to climb, waterfalls to discover, and livestock to admire. This national park features 680 square miles of stunning views and rustic villages. History buffs will enjoy a visit to Eden Camp Modern History Museum, set on the site of a former POW camp, browse the military vehicles such as tanks and planes, and uncover history in the huts with fascinating interactive displays.

About the Helmsley area

Lying in a sheltered corner of Upper Ryedale, on the southern edge of the North York Moors National Park, Helmsley is a prestigious market town with a spacious market square surrounded by houses, hotels and shops. The area is important historically - Helmsley has its own 12th century castle and English Heritage’s Rievaulx Abbey and Castle Howard are close by.

Helmsley also boasts an arts centre showing films and plays, and an outdoor swimming pool, which is open during the summer. There is excellent walking on the doorstep - indeed the Cleveland Way starts in Helmsley - and the surrounding North York Moors with their hidden dales and villages are pretty in all seasons.

York is less than an hour's drive south, as is Scarborough, Whitby and the east coast, whilst Pickering and the beginning of the famous steam railway line (North Yorkshire Moors Railway) are a little over 20 minutes' drive.
