Alma House is a traditional stone-built Dales home situated in the heart of Reeth, overlooking the village green and surrounded by the sweeping landscapes of Swaledale in the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Set over the upper floors, this inviting cottage pairs original character with thoughtful furnishings, creating a well-placed base for exploring the area.
Accessed via a ground-floor entrance with stairs leading up, the first-floor living space feels light and airy, with windows framing views across the village and towards the surrounding moorland. The kitchen is well-equipped for preparing meals during your stay, while the sitting room provides a relaxing setting to unwind, complete with a woodburning stove for added warmth after a day outdoors.
Upstairs, the second-floor bedrooms continue the sense of charm, offering a restful space beneath the eaves, with far-reaching views visible from every window, including glimpses of the green and the well-known Yorkshire grouse moors. Everything you need is within easy walking distance, with shops, cafés, pubs, restaurants, and a local Post Office all located in the village.
Reeth itself offers plenty to enjoy, from its weekly market and arts and crafts to the open village green. The surrounding area is ideal for walkers and cyclists, with routes through Swaledale and Arkengarthdale, as well as access to well-known trails such as the Coast to Coast and Pennine Way. Nearby Leyburn provides tea rooms, independent shops, and access to Wensleydale, home to the famous creamery.
Richmond, around ten miles away, offers historic landmarks including Richmond Castle, while attractions such as Aysgarth Falls, Semerwater, Hardraw Force, and Bolton Castle are all within reach. Well-positioned for exploring the Dales, Alma House makes a great base for enjoying both village life and the wider countryside.
